Shiley Disposable Inner Cannula provides a convenient, hassle-free option for the inner cannula. When you switch the Shiley Inner Cannula, there is no need to clean it, just dispose of it and insert a new one. The inner cannula works with a tracheostomy tube to restore a patient's airway. It also uses a 15-millimeter snap-lock connector. This makes connecting to the tracheostomy tube quick and easy without the need for tape. The inner cannula comes in four sizes: size 4 (Covidien 4DIC), size 6 (Covidien 6DIC), size 8 (Covidien 8DIC), and size 10 (Covidien 10DIC). The cannula uses individual sterilized packaging. This ensures that the new one is always clean and ready for use at a moment's notice. This inner cannula is not fenestrated, therefore developing a granuloma is eliminated. Also, if aspiration is a concern, a non-fenestrated cannula may be recommended to maintain cuff inflation and protect the airway from saliva and secretions. You may want to choose the Shiley Fenestrated option if you need or want fenestration. Disposable Inner Cannula Features and Benefits•Easily Connects to Tracheostomy Tube•Secures Without Tape•Disposable•Not Fenestrated
MEDTRONIC
The Shiley Fenestrated Disposable Inner Cannula is safe for use and compatible with the Shiley DCFN and DFEN tracheostomy tubes to ease the procedure of insertion. The inner cannula is designed fenestrated to allow more airflow through the cannula and out through the mouth and nose. The complete replacement procedure is facilitated with an inner cannula. Having a disposable inner cannula removes the need to clean the cannula for a quicker process. The Shiley Disposable Inner Cannula sizes -- 4, 6, 8, 10 -- indicate the millimeter size of each inner cannula. The variety of sizes allows most patients to use this cannula. Safety features such as the 15-millimeter snap-lock help keep the inner cannula from being coughed out or moved into a position that can cause problems. A soft-swivel flange moves along with the patient to be as fluid as possible when inserted. The inner cannula is provided sterile to remove the risk of infection from harmful bacteria. The disposable cannula can be removed and tossed freely into a disposal bin. Cleaning the skin area should be part of the changing procedure for tracheostomy care. Following safe protocols is ideal for both caretaker and patient to provide the best outcome. Shiley flexible tubes were designed with larger inner diameters, compared to earlier Shiley™ tracheostomy tubes. Airflow around the outer cannula when the cuff is deflated has increased by an average of 242%. It has been found that improved airflow may reduce the work of breathing required to speak and wean from a tracheostomy tube. Other enhancements in the new family of Shiley™ flexible tracheostomy tubes include color-coding by size (for disposable inner cannula products only), an expanded range of sizes, a soft material made with a non-DEHP plasticizer, a clear flange and a design that make it possible to ventilate with or without an inner cannula. FEATURESInsertion force may be reduced •A thinner, less bulky cuff reduces insertion force by 39%.•A beveled tip on all product configurations eases percutaneous insertion.•The Shiley™ flexible tracheostomy products use sizing (I.D., O.D., length and tube curvature) that is similar to those used in earlier Shiley™ products. Shiley Neonatal and Pediatric Flexible Tracheostomy Tubes have a lower-profile flange angle than the adult trach to accommodate smaller anatomy. The flex tube is redesigned to improve patient care. The Shiley Flex tube allows for ventilation with or without the disposable inner cannula to reduce airway resistance. The clear flange creates an inspection window for clinicians to view the stoma site and surrounding skin. The new trach tube is made from safe non-DEHP PVC material with a plasticizer additive for a softer and more flexible product. This change increases wearing comfort with less friction against the stoma. Choose from Shiley Pediatric Tracheostomy Tube cuffless and cuffed options to support a variety of patient needs. A complete list of Shiley flex trach improvements is found below, including a new color-coding system to help clinicians identify the corresponding inner cannula. Each design advancement is clinician-inspired to improve care for ventilator-dependent patients. (1) Flange DistinctionThe flange designates if it is for a neonatal or pediatric patient to make selection easier for clinicians.(2) Comfort RecessThe newly designed Shiley tracheostomy tubes are designed with a recess on the backside of the flange to reduce skin contact with air vents and create airflow around the stoma site. The Tape Tie Recess simplifies the insertion of either a tube holder or tape tie.(3) TaperGuard Cuff DesignWhen selecting a trach tube with a cuff, the newly designed TaperGuard Cuff replaces the barrel-shaped cuff to offer a better air and fluid seal with less bulk. The TaperGuard Cuff has a low intracuff pressure which reduces fluid leakage and the removal force to minimize stoma irritation or trauma.(4) Soft Flange Material and Transparent ColorSofter flange material increases patient comfort. The transparent material means clinicians have an enhanced view of the underlying skin and stoma site.
